IOM3
The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) is a major UK engineering institution whose activities encompass the whole materials cycle, from exploration and extraction, through characterisation, processing, forming, finishing and application, to product recycling and land reuse. It exists to promote and develop all aspects of materials science and engineering, geology, mining and associated technologies, mineral and petroleum engineering and extraction metallurgy, as a leading authority in the worldwide materials and mining community.
IOM3 was formed from the merger of the Institute of Materials and the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy in June 2002. Its roots go back to the Iron and Steel Institute which was established in 1869. It received Royal Charters in 1899 and 1975. It merged with the Institute of Packaging (2006) and the Institute of Clay Technology (2006). In the Summer of 2009, the Institute reached an agreement with the Institute of Wood Science to transfer all its members and activities to IOM3. In November 2010, IOM3 also embraced the activities and membership of the Institute of Vitreous Enamellers. In 2019 IOM3 is celebrating 150 years since the formation of the Iron and Steel Institute, with a programme of events.

Women in Mining
Founded in 2006, Women in Mining (WIM) advocates and speaks for women in the mining sector, informing industry participants and decision-makers of the challenges and opportunities women are finding in pursuing careers in mining companies and other mining-related businesses. Through our partnerships with leading mining companies and other industry participants, WIM provides thought leadership, analysis and research on the business case for diversity, inclusion and the economic advancement of women in the sector.
WIM offers a strong network which is used to progress professional goals and career aspirations. Membership is complimentary to both women and men. Through our work with universities and other organisations, WIM promotes the role of women in the mining industry and externally raises awareness of mining as a career choice for women. WIM celebrates and shares female success stories with the “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” publications and through our social media channels.

GOVIEX URANIUM
GoviEx is a mineral resource company focused on the exploration and development of its African uranium properties. GoviEx’s principal objective is to become a significant uranium producer through the continued exploration and development of its mine-permitted Madaouela Project in Niger, its mine-permitted Mutanga Project in Zambia, and its Falea Project in Mali.

Republic of Mali Ministry of Mines
The mining industry of Mali is dominated by gold extraction. Mali is ranked the third-largest gold producer in Africa, with 13 international mining companies operating in the country. Gold, followed by cotton, is the top export item making a large contribution to the economy of the country.
Apart from gold, diamond is also extracted from the Kéniéba region and many more prospected kimberlite pipes with diamondiferous are yet to be put into the production stage. Phosphate is mined from the Tilemsi Valley, but to a limited extent. Other established mineral resources are Bauxite reserves of 1.1 billion tons from three locations between Kéniéba and Bamako; iron ore reserves of 146 million tons of 50% Fe grade, mostly from Ble; and manganese reserve of 10 million tons at Asongo.
Semi-precious stones extracted are amethyst, epidote, garnet, prehnite, and quartz. Some amount of diamond is also extracted as a byproduct during gold extraction.
