Member of the House of LordsDolar Popat, Baron Popat (born 14 June 1953) is a British accountant, businessman and Conservative life peer in the House of Lords.
He became a Member of the House of Lords in July 2010 and is the first Gujarati to represent the Conservative Party in the upper house. From January 2013 to March 2015 he served as a Minister of the Crown at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, and the Department for Transport. He was Lord-in-Waiting, with the duties of a party whip. He was subsequently appointed as the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Rwanda and Uganda in January 2016.

Emma Wade-Smith OBE
HM Trade Commissioner for Africa, Department for International TradeEmma Wade-Smith is the first ever Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa, representing the UK Government’s Department for International Trade.
Emma was appointed to this role in May 2018 having created and led the pan-African regional trade team since April 2017. She has lived and worked in South Africa since February 2016, having initially arrived in that country to be the UK’s Trade Director for Southern Africa.
Prior to her most recent experience working on trade and investment, Emma worked at the British Embassy in Washington DC as the UK’s Counsellor for Foreign and Security Policy.
This came on the back of a two year stint heading up the Crisis Response Team in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She was awarded an OBE by Her Majesty The Queen for her work helping British Nationals to safety from hot spots all around the world.
Emma has had a distinguished career as a British Diplomat spanning more than two decades, with postings to Mexico and Chile as well as secondments to the United Nations in New York; the European Commission in Brussels; and the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills where she worked on international trade.
Emma is married to John; speaks reasonably fluent Spanish; and attempts to play golf every once in a while.

Engr. Khaled Alohali
Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Communication, Ma'adenEngr. Khaled Alohali joined Ma’aden in 2014. In the 22 years prior to joining Ma’aden, Engr. Alohali held multiple technical and leadership positions in both the public and private sectors, focusing on industrial investment and developmental projects. He worked at the Project Management Office of the Saudi Arabian Economic Offset Program as well as consulted for the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, thereafter becoming Vice President of the National Industrial Clusters Development Program. Engr. Alohali was also Head of the Saudi-Japanese Industrial Cooperation Taskforce, representing the Saudi Government, before taking on the position of Vice President of Charles River Associates International (CRAI) and its Managing Director in Saudi Arabia.
Engr. Alohali initially joined Ma’aden as Vice President for Strategy and Development, responsible for restructuring the Ma’aden Strategy 2025 working with Ma’aden executives, businesses and board of directors. He was subsequently appointed to be the first Vice President for Corporate Affairs and member of Ma’aden Management Committee. He also holds a Board of Managers position in several Ma’aden Affiliates. Engr. Alohali was then promoted to Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs. In addition, as directed by a Council of Ministers’ resolution, he was appointed as Member of Board of Directors in the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON).
During his career, Engr. Alohali has been engaged with leadership and advisory activities including: leading two startup companies, several organizational structuring, strategies planning and implementation (national and corporate), investments valuation, dealings with multination companies, local firms and Government agencies, promoting the Kingdom with global investors, calculating the Kingdom’s hydrocarbon and non‐hydrocarbon incentives, planning for industrial infrastructure development, assessing economic impact of mega industrial projects, measuring national economic progress using matrices other than GDP, and articulating several cases‐for‐change aimed at adjusting some public policies or proposing new ones.
Engr. Alohali holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering ‐ Honors from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.

Hon. Francis Gatare
CEO, Rwanda Mines, Petroleum & Gas Board (RMB)Hon. Francis Gatare is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rwanda Mines, Petroleum & Gas Board (RMB) with extensive experience in both the public and private sector. Previously he was the CEO of Rwanda Development Board (RDB) from 2014-2017. From October 2009 to July 2014, he served as Principal Private Secretary to H.E the President of the Republic of Rwanda. He also served as the Chief Economist and Deputy Head of Policy and Strategy in the Office of the President. Prior to joining the Office of The President, he served as the Principal Deputy CEO of the RDB. Mr Gatare also served as the Director-General of the Rwanda Investment & Export Promotion Agency from May 2007 to September 2008. From April 2005 to October 2009, he was the Personal Representative of H.E the President of Rwanda, to the NEPAD Steering Committee. Mr Gatare has served in several managerial positions in UNDP and taught economics at universities. He was a Mason Fellow at John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Aidan Davy
Chief Operating Officer, ICMMAidan Davy joined ICMM in June 2007. As COO, he is responsible for strategy development and implementation. He also leads ICMM’s work on environmental issues, including the management of issues relating to biodiversity, climate change, mine closure, tailings and water. Prior to assuming the role of COO in 2015, Aidan led ICMM’s work on social and economic development, investor engagement and sustainability reporting.
Aidan has over 30 years of cross-sectoral experience on sustainable development issues, working with a range of private, multi-lateral and not-for-profit organizations, including the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation in Washington DC.

David McIlroy
HM Ambassador to GuineaDavid McIlroy was appointed as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Guinea in June 2019.
Prior to this he was Deputy Head of the Stabilisation Unit from 2015 to 2018, based in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in London. He has had previous postings as United Kingdom Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna (2011 to 15) and as Deputy Head of Mission and Her Majesty’s Consul General in Belgrade (2004 to 2007).

Global Head, Mining, International Finance CorporationNamrata Thapar is Global Head of Mining for IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. Ms. Thapar leads IFC’s investment team responsible for supporting the mining sector and developing IFC’s mining business with a focus on sustainability and development impact across the emerging markets. IFC’s financing includes investments in equity, mezzanine and senior debt. She joined IFC in 1999 and has managed investments in mining transactions globally with clients ranging from major diversified companies to juniors through equity, project and corporate financings. She is based in Washington D.C.

Froydis Cameron-Johansson
Group Head of International and Government Relations, Anglo AmericanFroydis Cameron-Johansson is Head of Safety, Sustainability, Corporate Affairs and Compliance for Anglo American’s global Exploration Business.
Prior to this current role, Froydis was Head of Corporate Affairs for Anglo American’s other Mining and Industrial group and Group Projects – looking after integrated planning for major capital projects in in Europe, Africa and the Americas.
Previous to joining Anglo American, Froydis has over a decade of experience in the oil and gas sector with Shell , holding a number of technical, project and corporate positions around the world. She has also worked for the European Commission as well as at the US Senate as a speechwriter.
Family is hugely important to Froydis and she loves nothing more than being out in the elements with them surrounded by nature – preferably up a mountain. She is an avid reader (of everything) and retains her childhood fascination of maps.

Senior Exploration Geologist, SRK ExplorationDan built up significant experience of mineral exploration programme design and management through numerous remote and on-site support roles. In more recent years this has frequently involved running diamond and auger drill programmes on iron and gold projects in Africa, the Middle East, and Greenland. He is comfortable working with and managing technical teams in remote environments to efficiently and effectively add value to exploration projects.
Dan has contributed to numerous CPRs in accordance with NI 43-ten1 and JORC Code guidelines for TSX, AIM, and ASX listed companies. He has conducted mineral prospectivity analyses and target generation exercises for multiple commodities at various scales from transcontinental metallogenic belts, to individual exploration licences. Dan is an advocate of the comprehensive integration of geophysical, geological, geochemical, and remote sensing data to provide informed interpretation and well-founded project decision making.

Senior Exploration Geologist, SRK ExplorationOliver started his career as a geologist in private exploration and mining finance before moving on to project and exploration geologist roles. Oliver’s expertise lies in the design, management, and implementation of mineral exploration programmes; including remote sensing studies, extensive multi-rig diamond and reverse circulation complex drilling, geochemical surveys, structural geological mapping, and interpretation.
Oliver joined SRK Exploration in 2013. He has extensive experience in lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatite, Proterozoic copper-gold; greenstone gold and iron-ore; silver-base metal polymetallic; hard rock and alluvial tin; and diamond exploration in Africa, Australia, and the Middle East. Oliver is a competent person for technical reviews and the reporting of exploration results to meet the JORC and CIM codes and has held senior legislative operational health and safety responsibility for mining and exploration projects.

Ignacio de Calonje

He is based in London and is responsible for managing a number of IFC’s Western European based clients in the energy and mining sectors. Prior to his posting in London, Ignacio was based in Istanbul, Cairo and Washington DC for IFC. Ignacio has extensive experience in the field of international finance, having worked on numerous equity and debt investments in emerging markets. Before joining IFC in 2004, he worked for Lehman Brothers’ investment banking division in London and Madrid advising Spanish and UK corporate clients in mergers, acquisitions and debt capital market transactions. He is also a non-Executive Director of Alcazar Energy, a renewable energy company with operations in Egypt and Jordan. Ignacio has a Bsc in Business Administration from Universidad San Pablo-CEU (Madrid) and a Masters Degree from Columbia University (New York).

Tarek Alkhoury
Regional Coordinator, UN Environment Programme (UNEP)Tarek Alkhoury has over 10 years of experience in the fields of environment, urban planning and resource efficiency, 6 years of them have been in the UN System. In 2014, he joined UN-Habitat Headquarters in Nairobi to support Francophone African countries and Arab States in policies and programmes on housing and slum upgrading. Later on, he was appointed as a Regional Programme Officer for Arab States within the Land and Global Land Tool Network Unit (GLTN). Before joining UN-Habitat, he worked for 4 years as an architect and programme manager providing advisory services on integrating green and resource efficiency practices into the project design phase in Middle East. In addition, Mr. Alkhoury has done several short assignments in France related to Project and Programme Management and Green Cities. His multi-dimensional experience in environment, urban planning, land and sustainable development allowed him to gain solid knowledge on the interrelated relationships between resource flows, infrastructure, socio-economic factors and ecological outcomes. He is currently the Regional Coordinator for Resource Efficiency and Sustainable Consumption and Production with UNEP West Asia Office, his main role is leading the development and implementation of UNEP Resource Efficiency Sub-programme in the region based on needs of countries and the region and within the scope of UNEP Resource Efficiency strategy and programme of work.
Tarek is an Architect graduated from Damascus University – Faculty of Architecture. He holds a Master of Environment, Urban and Regional Planning from Reims University and a Specialized Master in Project and Program Management from SKEMA Business School in France. He is fluent in Arabic, French and English.
